There is a matching Bishop style dress in the works for Ella’s little sister Lauren, and both are to be completed in time for Easter.  Photos of both dresses together when they are finished.

Now on to the new toys.  Since I started this venture, I have, naturally, been looking at pleaters.  My experiences with the local shop (see earlier post) have been less than fulfilling and I, also, want to be able to pleat my own garments on the fly.  Enter a friend from church who’s sister was looking for a buyer for her pleater.  Yipee!!  Look at my new baby:

Oh yes, I thought I was just buying the pleater.  I did not know it was already mounted and everything.  I am just tickled pink, or in this case, orange….LOL

Taking a page from the Obama “How to spend without the appearance of spending” reference manual, I was able to save enough money on the pleater by buying it from my friend, that I bought this:

This little old lady (below) is on her way to the shop for a tune up.  I learned to sew on this machine while doing a project for Girl Scouts and it belonged to my mother until she passed away.  Don’t ask the machine’s age, you will be asking mine…

Finally, last, but certainly not least, Ebby was less than thrilled with the St. Patrick’s Day party favors we brought home from the restaurant last night.  Somehow, the camera made her eyes green…She is such a party animal.

That is about all I have for this week.  Of course, Spring Break is not over till Sunday night, so you never know what kind of trouble I can manage between now and then…Fair Winds,  D

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Then we went to PetCo and picked out a new bed, new chew toys and sweaters.  As I write this she is bringing me her favorite toy to throw for her, her brother’s 15 year old, ratty potato man stuffed thing…Oh well, at least she will use the sweaters and the new bed…  Finally, we went to lunch together at one of my favorite places for wings.  We had loads of fun and everyone wanted to take her off my hands….

Blazer and Scott in the fall of 1994.

This was not the post I had planned for today, but today was the day Blazer needed to leave us.  He had been with us for 16 years, outlived his brother by two years and his body finally succumbed to the natural degradation that is old age.

He was so tiny at first!

We got Blazer as a baby from a breeder in Alabama while we were students at UAB.  Here he is in the back yard of our house in Homewood, AL at about 6 months old.

Doing what he loved the most in life, chewing on a chewy...

Blazer spent a lot of time with his brother and his cousin Tanya in Auburn, espceially during the college football season.  Here are the three of them together paying attention to their various interests.  Aubie (the cocker) is looking at the camera (his daddy), Tanya is in the middle and is watching some people play nearby, and Blazer, as always, is looking for the next rabbit to chase.

Each watching what is important to them.

We have so many photos of him and his brother from the past 16 years, so I am just sharing a few.  Here he is after we moved out to the farm in 2006.

I love the farm!

We loved him and will miss him, but we know he will no longer have to struggle to walk, control his bladder, or hold down his food.  Blazer is now at peace, August 21, 2009.

As for the Dog on Thursday…this is the way I found him when I came out of the kitchen this morning…

She will be able to wear this sweater that I just made for her when she comes home.

Yes, that is right…she is an itty bitty baby chihuahua.  We get to bring her home on the 9th of December.  Happy Dogs on Thursday Everybody!
