Secret of the Stole II Swatch Video, Part I

Category : Patterns

In this video you will find some instructions on starting the swatch for SOTS-ii. This will be a part I and part II with the more technical aspects of the swatch in part II.

Please excuse the background noise from the ocean, we tried to drown it out a little bit but that was where we recorded the video so it was a little hard to remove the sound of the ocean.

Please leave us a comment or use the contact us form if you have any questions. Thanks, happy knitting.

This is a really great tutorial – I’m sending the link to several friends who swear they’d never be able to knit lace. You make it look so easy! :)

The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. You have done a really good job with the video of the actual knitting. The image is well focused and steady, making it easy to see what you are doing. The beach is a beautiful back drop for your video too. I wonder if it is possible to filter out some of the ocean noise. While very calming, it sometimes makes your instructions a little difficult to hear.

That was a great video, but I have one little complaint. The background noise of the waives is very loud, making it a bit difficult to hear for those of us who are hearing impaired, Is it possible to filter our the background noise a bit?

I really enjoyed SOTS and look forward to participating in SOTS2

Waw, wonderful, you’re making it really easy this way.

I agree I like the clarity of the instructions and the photography, but the ocean noise is a bit loud. This won’t stop me from watching, though. I have noticed with other podcasts that it takes a few episodes for them to get the sound right.
I think this will be a great addition for those who are still beginners. I include myself, since shawl #2 and 3 are still on the needles. I just started Clue 5 of Secret of the Stole and I’m loving it!

Thank you for all the time invested in the patterns and website. I can’t wait for the next KAL to start. Great tutorial!

I love your video’s. This will be my very first time trying to knit and with your help I just might be able to do this.. I just have to learn how to cast on!! Thanks for the site and the videos, I will be here often. Now I have to buy needles, any advice.
I am also new to blogs, so lots to learn.

I can’t wait to share this with my mom. I know she wants to learn to knit and this will be a great tool for her. You did a great job! Thanks.

Lovely clear instructions. Even a beginner would be able to follow your directions.
I love the sound of the ocean.. I know it is a little louder than you would like but I didn’t get to go on vacation this year.. so this is a nice sound to me….DH and I love to camp by the ocean.
This is the first time I have joined you and I am really looking forward to this pattern. Thank you

Great video with clear instructions. I learned I have been doing yarnovers WRONG! Thanks for clearing that up.

How great of you to make videos to go along with the KAL! Though I know the basics, I love watching as a refresher and to see how others do things!

Just curious—is there a particular reason you prefer s1k1psso to ssk? To me, the ssk seems much less ‘labor intensive’, but if s1k1psso is better for some reason, especially for the stole, please let us know!

I would love to see more video about how to read the chart itself! I’ve only tried one large lace project before, and this is the reason it never got finished! I especially get confused about how to do the chart when your number of actual stitches is more than what the row shows on the chart—gets confusing about repeats and all that! It would be so great if you could give tutorials on that as well!

Thanks so much for the video! Even though the ocean noise was really loud, I miss the beach so much and it made me homesick—sigh!

Thank you so much for this! It’s great – I have been wanting to learn longtail cast on since forever. And I absolutely love the sound of the ocean in the background! I can hardly wait for the first clue.
Keep up the good work,

Is there a way I can print off the directions for the swatch?

Thank you. These are great. I have been guessing if I had been doing these stiches correclty for the last couple of years now I know and have more confidence in doing them. Wonderful help Looking forward to others.

Thanks for the comments, we were aware in the editing of the video that the ocean background noise was a little tooooooo loud. The original recording we did we only one audio so we were not able to edit or lower the background of the waves, sorry about that.

We will adjust that for next time though, thanks for the feedback. Keep watching, we have at least 3 videos in the works, including one knit shop. Scott
